World Baking Day is coming up this weekend - Sunday, May 17th. Just a few years old and falling every year on the third Sunday of May, World Baking Day is an initiative that wants to get people baking for their loved ones, friends, and neighbors, as a show of appreciation and gratitude.
After School Chocolate Chip Cookies
We've selected a range of recipes from the Drop Kitchen app that we think suit the spirit of World Baking Day perfectly! First up are our After-School Chocolate Chip cookies. These are ideal for when you want both the classic chocolate chip cookie but also a little somethin' extra. Here it comes in the form of cacao nibs for a pleasing crunch.
One Bowl Brownies
Not enough chocolate for you? Then check out our One-Bowl Brownies. One of our most favorited recipes and rated very easy, they're a perfect choice for a baker of any skill and come together - prep, baking and all - in under 45 minutes. You can also jazz them up with nuts, orange zest or chocolate chips (or all of the above, why not?!) if you want even more rich chocolatey goodness.
Following on the classic theme, we have a wonderful Apple Pie recipe in the app - try it with our Basic Pie Crust recipe for extra buttery goodness! Both recipes are rated easy and use very basic ingredients. For a non-traditional pie, we love our Walnut and Honey Pie with Sea Salt. Think of it like an update on the traditional Pecan Pie: the same delicious gooeyness and richness, but with a more sophisticated flavor palette. This recipe requires a bit more preparation and time but is absolutely worth it!
If your intended recipient prefers savory options, we've got you covered as well: you could whip up a batch of pretzel rolls for a fun twist on the standard bread roll. They're great for sandwiches!
Parmesan, Polenta and Sage Madeleines
Also in the realm of new versions of classic favorites, we have an amazing recipe for Parmesan, Polenta and Sage Madeleines. These would be a brilliant addition to a Sunday brunch on World Baking Day itself!
All of these recipes and many more are can be found in the Drop Kitchen app, which is available as a free download from the App Store. For more information on World Baking Day, you can go to their main website or join the conversations on their Facebook page or on Twitter.
