Happy Mother's Day to the moms in the USA! And Australia, and Mexico, and most of Europe and beyond...
You may have caught our Mother's Day post a few months ago for the UK and Ireland. Why does Mother's Day occur so much earlier there than in most of the world? The sentiment behind both is certainly the same, but they're celebrated on different days because in the UK and Ireland, it's always held on the fourth Sunday of Lent, historically known as Mothering Sunday. (For a full writeup on the history, check out that post!)
Regardless of where you are in the world, you've doubtlessly seen or heard tales of children baking for their mothers on Mother's Day, with hilariously disastrous results: pancakes made with salt instead of sugar, shells in the scrambled eggs.
Don't let these horror stories put you off making a treat for your mom this Sunday! We'll help you out. First up, some of our most simple recipes rated "very easy" in the app: Simple Shortbread Cookies with Berries and Cream, and Strawberry Shortcake.
While not necessarily breakfast (or hey, maybe so! Who are we to cramp Mom's style?), we're sure she would smile to see these delicious treats anytime on Sunday.
If you do want to go a more traditional breakfast route, our buttermilk pancakes are very quick and one of our most-favorited recipes! Check out how fast they come together in this recent video.
...well, maybe not quite that fast. We also recommend our fresh bagels--have a look at starting them the evening before and then baking them in the morning to save yourself some time. If you're in a muffiny mood, we like the classic Lemon and Poppyseed Muffins, or, if you (or Mom) prefers a savory option, our Pumpkin, Feta & Spinach Muffins are absolutely scrumptious.
For later in the day, and if you're feeling the urge to make something more visually spectacular, have a look at our Carrot Cake with Cream-Cheese Frosting or our new Pavlova with seasonal fruit.

There are plenty more recipes to choose from in the app to suit your needs--there's a dedicated tab for quick & easy recipes, as well as one for gluten-free choices. Whatever you get up to making for the mothers in your life this weekend, we're sure they'll appreciate it! As always, we love seeing what our bakers make so feel free to share your work with us on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram.
All of the recipes mentioned in this post can be found in the Drop Kitchen app. If you don't have it already you can download it from the App Store.
